No feature of today's Republican Party has been sadder than its constant efforts to divide us, to curry favor with some Americans by castigating others. As in previous moments of national danger, we Americans are all in the same boat. If we drift, quarreling and paralyzed, we will all suffer, regardless of income, race, gender or other category.

(Oh, and I did change a couple of words in the first sentence to sharpen his rhetoric a bit.)

One of two things will happen - they'll either have him on or reference his comment, softening it a bit and then piling on with all the anti-Democratic rhetoric, or you will hear little or nothing on it. Either way, imagine the outrage if a Democrat had said something like that. It would be on constantly for 3 or 4 days!

i was disgusted at how the fox news democratic spokesperson bob beckel demonstrated his red-faced outrage over the west rhetoric that nancy pelosi and harry reid should take their policies and get out of the u s and ignored the fact that west had also included president obama in this verbal attack.
beckel claims that hearing west (who is african american) telling 'harry reid' and 'nancy pelosi' to "get the hell out of the u s of american" is one of the most disgraceful things he's heard in his 30 years of politics. beckel didn't once acknowledge the fact that west had evoked president obama first in this tirade. his only outrage seemed to be the attack on the 'white politicians'. he went on to say that west was lucky to have his seat in the first place and owes many an apology.
it sounds as though beckel felt west was somewhat out of place by telling white americans to get the hell out of the u s.
obviously, he finds the ranting of west more unsettling than a white congressman yelling out "you lie" or all the other demonstrations of vile disrespect that president obama has had to tolerate.
