But Vos, one of the Assembly's top leaders, downplayed the memo's significance and said he simply told other Republicans they should not listen to Democrats on the issue - a claim that critics called implausible.
"Public comments on this map may be different than what you hear in this room. Ignore the public comments," the memo said.

#1 - Thu Feb 9, 2012 12:33 PM ESTBefore most redistricting, commissions hear "public comments" this has nothing to do with republicans or democrats or even legislators it is about hearing from citizens at public hearing/meetings. In this case it is about Republicans ignoring citizens input about doing what ever is needed to not listen to the very people that are supposed to be represented.
